The Nairobi–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), a passenger and freight line connecting Nairobi County and Busia County in the Republic of Kenya, is constructed to the standard of China's Class I railway. It is an extension of the Mombasa-Nairobi SGR, a flagship project of Kenya's Vision 2030 and the second phase of the East African railway network. The Addis Ababa–Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway, also known as the Ethiopia–Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway, is a railway primarily for freight transport connecting Ethiopia and Djibouti on the African continent. It is the first standard gauge electrified railway in East Africa and represents an early achievement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the ten cooperation plans of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. It is a landmark project for China-Africa cooperation in the construction of three networks and electrification, and it represents China's first fully integrated overseas railway project in its 'going global' strategy. It is hailed as the 'Tanzam Railway of a new era'.

The Julius Nyerere Hydropower Station is located on the Rufiji River in southeastern Tanzania, approximately 350 kilometers from Dar es Salaam, the largest city and capital of Tanzania. The project's main tasks are power generation and irrigation. The power station has a total of 9 units, with a total installed capacity of 2115 MW and an annual power generation of 6307 GW·h. The project's maximum dam height is approximately 131 m, and the total water storage capacity exceeds 30 billion cubic meters. After completion, the power station's installed capacity will account for more than 60% of Tanzania's total installed capacity, making it the country's main power generation base.

In addition to preventing floods in the swamps along the Nyabarongo and Akagera Rivers, the plant is designed to provide a large amount of clean energy for the capital and surrounding areas for a long time. It is a large, multi-functional hydropower project that primarily generates electricity, while also managing flood control and irrigation. The total cost of the project is US\$214 million, with an installed capacity of 43.5 megawatts, a reservoir capacity of 803.8 million cubic meters, and a total construction period of 56 months. The expansion and renovation project includes railway yards, container yards, connecting roads, and supporting projects. The total construction area is 434,300 square meters. There are a total of 41 building units, with a total construction area of approximately 20,000 square meters, a railway yard of 20,500 square meters, 119,000 square meters of concrete structural surface, 128,000 square meters of interlocking blocks, and one bridge and culvert.
