The Dohazari-Cox's Bazar railway is located in southeastern Bangladesh, with a total length of approximately103kilometers, and is a single-track dual-gauge railway for both passenger and freight transport. The project duration is3years, and includes earthworks, bridge and culvert works, track laying, and station building construction, etc.

The Cox's Bazar station building has a total area of3.5square meters, making it the largest railway station in Bangladesh in terms of building area. After its official launch, the station is expected to welcome4.6passenger trips per day. The exterior of the station is composed of a large glass curtain wall and an arched steel structure forming a shell shape, symbolizing Cox's Bazar's unique coastal tourism resources. The internal structure of the station has6floors, and is the first modern station building in Bangladesh that integrates transportation, offices, restaurants, and hotels. It has become a landmark building in Bangladesh.

After the project is completed, the travel time between Chittagong and Cox's Bazar will be reduced from6hours by road to2hours by rail. This will not only greatly improve the transportation conditions in southern Bangladesh and accelerate the development of tourism, fisheries, and salt industries, but will also promote rail connectivity between Bangladesh and Myanmar, enhancing regional interconnectivity and having a long-term impact on the economic development of Bangladesh and even South Asia.

As one of Bangladesh's top ten priority development projects, the project connects Chittagong, Bangladesh's largest port city, and Cox's Bazar, a border tourism city between Bangladesh and Myanmar. It is a key route of the Pan-Asian Railway Network in Bangladesh and an important part of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor, marking the perfect embodiment of the "consultation, joint construction, and shared benefits" values of the Belt and Road Initiative in Bangladesh.
