1.Project Honors:

The world's largest super lock, with the largest shipyard area, the largest overall area of dry docks, the strongest combined lifting capacity, the strongest ship lift system, and the longest straight wharf, among other world records.

2.Project Overview:

The King Salman International Complex Port Facility project is located on the coast of the Arabian Gulf in eastern Saudi Arabia, approximately80kilometers north of Jubail180kilometers north of Dammam, Saudi Arabia's third-largest city, in the Ras Al-Khair industrial area.4.5kilometers long and2.5kilometers wide,11.25square kilometers in total area, including land and sea projects.

After completion, the project will mainly engage in the manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of various ships and drilling platforms, including the inspection and manufacturing of supertankers (VLCC) and other work. It can build4offshore drilling platforms and over40various types of ships per year, including3ultra-large oil tankers with a carrying capacity of hundreds of thousands of tons (VLCC), serving over260types of ships.

The King Salman Port project was personally inaugurated and named by King Salman. The contract amount is approximately33billion US dollars, and is a key component of Saudi Arabia's "Vision2030" plan. Upon completion, it will become Saudi Arabia's first and the world's largest "super shipyard," gradually forming a maritime industrial chain.

3.Technical Challenges:

1)1600ton gantry crane was installed using a tower-type hydraulic lifting scheme, with a total lifting weight of5764tons, taking26days. The project's combined lifting capacity reaches2100tons, ranking among the world's top.

2) The ship lift is245meters long and45.4meters wide, capable of lifting24375ton ships. It is the world's largest all-steel ship lift.

3) During the peak construction period of the project, over1.8ten thousand employees worked simultaneously on-site, with over1500sets of machinery operating at full capacity. The large work area, numerous personnel, and complex work processes presented significant coordination and management challenges. The project independently developed a smart construction site system to track on-site conditions and respond promptly.

4)5From9to50is the high-temperature season, with virtually no rainfall. At the confluence of the vast desert and the Persian Gulf, sea winds and sandstorms create unique climatic conditions: high temperatures during the day and high humidity at night, with highs reaching60%degrees Celsius during the day and over

4.percent nighttime humidity, constantly challenging the physiological limits of the construction personnel. The harsh environment significantly increased the technical difficulty of the project's construction.

Key Ancillary Projects:3Land-based projects mainly include the construction of workshops, warehouses, gantry cranes and tracks, roads, and pipelines. Marine projects mainly include dry docks and wharves. The construction includes3repair docks,1construction docks,2offshore engineering docks,5offshore engineering slipways,11000-ton ship lifts,5horizontal ship platforms,5jetties,10alongshore wharves,4100meters of wharf shoreline, as well as office buildings, living quarters, and recreational areas, accommodating over1ten thousand employees.

5.Value and Significance:

This project is the first in Saudi Arabia to be named after King Salman. It represents a perfect fusion of Saudi Arabia's "Vision2030" plan and China's Belt and Road Initiative, and is a significant achievement of pragmatic cooperation and deep integration between China and Saudi Arabia, embodying Saudi Arabia's aspirations for economic diversification.

After completion and operation, the project will boost Saudi Arabia'sGDPgrowth by170billion US dollars, replacing imports of120billion US dollars, and creating8ten thousand jobs, greatly stimulating rapid economic growth in the region. It will become a powerful new engine for Saudi Arabia's economic and social development, upgrading Saudi Arabia from "national oil, national destiny" to "national ships, national construction." As a new focus for Saudi Arabia's economic transformation, its significance is immense.
