Nigeria's first modern double-track standard gauge railway - Lagos-The Lagos-Ibadan Railway (referred to as the Lagos-Ibadan Railway) is the first modern double-track standard gauge railway in the entire West African region, and also the longest double-track standard gauge railway built in Africa to date. It2021year6month10day officially opened for operation.

 

As a key cooperation project of the China-Africa "Belt and Road" Initiative, the Lagos-Ibadan Railway is156.08kilometers long, connecting Lagos, Nigeria's largest city, and Ibadan, a major industrial city in the southwest. It has a design speed of150kilometers/per hour. After opening, the travel time between Lagos and Ibadan was reduced from10hours to2hours.

 

The Lagos-Ibadan Railway created4000many jobs, employing over 10,000 local people at its peak, solving a large number of employment problems. After the opening of the Lagos-Ibadan Railway, it not only facilitates people's travel, but also helps improve the efficiency of cargo transportation between ports and inland areas, promoting the revitalization of the local economy and social development. It is another milestone in the Nigerian government's revitalization of its railway system and is of great significance to Nigeria's economic development.
