Honduras, Arenales Hydroelectric Power Plant
Arena Hydropower Station
The Honduras Arena Hydropower Project is located inRIO YAGUALARiver, in Yoro Province, northern Honduras. The total installed capacity is60megawatts, with a total investment of15hundreds of millions of RMB. Upon completion, it will provide the country with approximately229.72 GW/year of power generation, making it the largest hydropower station currently under construction in the country. The power station mainly consists of diversion tunnels, rolled concrete single-arch dams, diversion tunnels, pressure steel pipes, surge shafts, ground power plants and switch stations. The dam is100meters high,273meters long at the crest,30.8meters at its widest base,0.305with an aspect ratio of12kilometers long and an area of2660square meters. The reservoir capacity is5200ten thousand cubic meters.
The project started construction on2019year2month15day,4month1day, the dam was closed,9month22day, the dam foundation concrete pouring was completed,2021year10month26day, successful water storage was achieved,2022year2month15day, the temporary handover certificate was successfully signed,4month26day, the open spillway of the Honduras Arena Hydropower Project dam successfully passed water, marking the successful completion of water storage and creating favorable conditions for the next step of power generation. After power generation, the project will play an important role in peak and valley regulation of electricity in Honduras, further enhancing the influence and credibility of Chinese enterprises in the Honduran market and laying a solid foundation for China to further cultivate the Honduran market.
