Wenzhou Grand Theatre

Wenzhou Grand Theatre began construction on September 3, 2003. It includes a luxurious opera house with 1500 seats, an elegant concert hall with 664 seats, and a multi-functional small theatre with over 150 seats. The total land area is approximately 20,000 square meters, and the building area is approximately 36,000 square meters. The Grand Theatre, with its unique architectural design, advanced stage technology, and comprehensive performance functions, will rank among the most advanced modern theatres in China today. Currently, the Wenzhou Grand Theatre is undergoing interior decoration, equipment installation and debugging, and the construction of auxiliary facilities. With the scaffolding removed, the majestic appearance of the Grand Theatre is revealed. From the front, it resembles a carp leaping out of the water, about to jump over the Dragon Gate; from the side, it looks like a series of shells opening their "arms"; from above, it becomes a goldfish swimming in the water; and from another angle, it transforms into piano keys.

This Grand Theatre, resembling a carp, an organ, and shells, is enveloped in a golden glass curtain wall. It is located east of Century Square and north of City Government Road. Designed by Carlos Ott, a world-renowned theatre designer from Canada, the theatre's exterior resembles a carp when viewed from above, and a hand-held accordion when viewed from the side. It covers a total land area of nearly 26,000 square meters and a building area of 36,900 square meters. It houses an opera hall, a concert hall, and a multi-functional small theatre. The total investment was 654 million yuan, and construction took six years to complete.

When viewed from above, the exterior of the Wenzhou Grand Theatre resembles a carp; its architectural concept is inspired by a golden carp. Viewed from the side, it also resembles an open accordion.
