Jingyue Yangtze River Highway Bridge

The Jingyue Yangtze River (Highway) Bridge, located on the north bank in Bailuo Town, Jianli County, Hubei Province, and on the south bank in Daorenji Town, Yunxi District, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, is a double-tower steel box girder cable-stayed bridge. It is the first Yangtze River bridge connecting Hubei and Hunan Provinces, and construction began in November 2006.        The Jingyue Yangtze River Bridge is more than 5400 meters long, with a total investment exceeding 2.3 billion yuan. It features a six-lane design in both north and south directions. Its main span is 816 meters long, ranking sixth in the world among similar bridges and is currently the longest highway bridge in China with the longest main span. Due to the extremely complex geological conditions in the construction area, experts once suggested changing the location.

The Jingyue Yangtze River Highway Bridge is a control project of the Suiyue Expressway. It is the first Yangtze River bridge connecting Hubei and Hunan provinces, located 13 kilometers downstream from the confluence of Dongting Lake and the Yangtze River. It starts from Bailuo Town, Jianli County, crosses the Yangtze River, and ends at Daorenji Town, Yunxi District, Yueyang City, Hunan Province. The total construction mileage is 5.419 kilometers, with a total investment of 2.342 billion yuan. The bridge has a dual six-lane design, a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour, and a design service life of 100 years.

On the morning of December 9, 2010, the Jingyue Yangtze River Bridge officially opened to traffic, becoming the world's largest high and low tower cable-stayed bridge.
