Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway

The Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway (also known as the second double-track line of the Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway) is the longest high-speed railway built and opened to traffic at one time in the world. It is 1776 kilometers long, starting from Lanzhou in Gansu Province in the east, passing through Xining in Qinghai Province, Zhangye, Jiuquan, and Jiayuguan in Gansu Province, and ending in Urumqi, Xinjiang in the west. The maximum design speed for passenger trains is 250 km/h (350 km/h offline standard).

Its completion has created an all-weather, high-capacity, rapid railway channel between Xinjiang and inland areas, significantly reducing travel time. It is the first high-speed railway built in the high-altitude, cold, and windy sandy areas of Northwest China, accumulating valuable exploratory experience for the development of fast and high-speed railways in such areas.

The Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-Speed Railway branches out from the Lanzhou West hub, connecting in the east with the Xulan Passenger Dedicated Line, and primarily serves the Urumqi Station.
