Laxiwa Hydropower Station

The Laxiwa Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Yellow River in Qinghai Province. It is the second large-scale cascade power station planned in the Longyangxia to Qingtongxia section of the upper reaches of the Yellow River. Located in Laxiwa Town, Guide County. The maximum dam height of the Laxiwa Hydropower Station is 250 meters, the water level of the first phase of water storage is 2370 meters, the normal water storage level of the reservoir is 2452 meters, the total reservoir capacity is 1.056 billion cubic meters, the total installed capacity of the 6 units is 4.2 million kilowatts, the average annual power generation is 10.223 billion kilowatt-hours, and the dynamic investment is 14.986 billion yuan. The power station diverted the riverbed in 2004 and started excavating the dam shoulder. Currently, the dam has been poured to an elevation of 2390 meters, and the engineering conditions for the first-phase water storage of the reservoir have been met. The Laxiwa Hydropower Station is the largest hydropower station and clean energy base on the Yellow River, as well as the hydropower station with the highest dam, largest installed capacity, and largest power generation in the Yellow River Basin. In April 2009, the first two units of the power station were put into operation, with Unit 6 marking the 800 million kilowatt installed capacity of China's power generation; in August 2010, all five units of the first phase of the Laxiwa Hydropower Station were officially connected to the grid.
