Ningde Nuclear Power Plant, Fujian

Located in Ningde City, Fujian Province, the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant is approximately 32km south of Fuding City, east of the East China Sea, and north of Qingchuan Bay. The plant is planned to have six million-kilowatt-class pressurized water reactor (PWR) units, with construction phased over time. The first phase will use the CPR1000 technology, an independent Brand from China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), to build four million-kilowatt-class PWR units. On September 1, 2006, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the commencement of preliminary work on the first phase of the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant. The main project officially started on February 18, 2008, with the first unit scheduled for commissioning in 2012. On December 28, 2010, engineering and technical personnel at the Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Plant used China's first independently developed full-scope simulator for nuclear power plants.
